Mayor's Message - Take a stand against bullying

No one should ever be made to feel bad or wrong about themselves by other people. As a Bully Zero Australia Foundation Ambassador, advocating against bullying is something that is very important to me. It’s not only something that affects children, but a serious issue that can follow us and impact us in adulthood.

It’s not just my role as an Ambassador to stop bullying, but the role of our community to make sure people can be safe and happy in their everyday lives, without feeling intimated, threatened or emotionally attacked by others. If you see examples of bullying around you, speak up and stand up! As a White Ribbon Workplace, Council encourages people to not be a bystander when it comes to acts of domestic violence, and the same goes for bullying.

Often there is an excuse for bullying, and especially for those of us in the public eye, it’s almost an expectation to be on the receiving end. I believe no matter the issue, anything can be addressed with kindness, without unnecessary rhetoric.
