A $1 billion Regional Development Australia Fund has been established by the Federal Government to drive economic development in regional and rural Australia.

Project allocations for the Fund have been capped at $25 million. Funding starts flowing from July 1, with resources to be delivered over the next five years.

Key criteria for the application funding guidelines are:

  • delivery of concrete economic and social benefits
  • commitment to innovation and building capacity in local communities
  • linking regional communities across traditional boundaries

Applications for the $500 million education investment fund are expected to open in coming months.
