AG questions regional spend
Victoria’s auditor-general has issued a report on over a billion dollars worth of regional grants.
Despite the high amounts pushed out by Regional Development Victoria, Auditor-General Andrew Greaves says it is hard to assess due to the scheme’s lack of transparency and poor data.
He said he faced incomplete lists of grants awarded and overstated impact on jobs when trying to review the scheme.
The report makes seven recommendations to the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions focused on improving its management and evaluation of its regional grant funds and public transparency of allocated grants.
