The Australian Local Government Association is preparing its 2013 State of the Assets report, and is calling for input from regional bodies around the country.

ALGA wants Councils to contribute data about the quality, functionality and capacity of roads, bridges and other infrastructure to a national survey. It will inform a national assets report on the standard of community roads and infrastructure. Jeff Roorda and Associates (JRA) have been commissioned to develop the 2013 National State of the Assets Report.

The Report is a major advocacy program by ALGA on behalf of all local governments; they say it is important that the program receives a high response rate. The focus in the 2013 Report will be on sealed and unsealed local roads, concrete and timber bridges.

In early June, all Australian local governments were provided with individual log-in details to the short web-based survey. The ALGA wants responses to the survey by Friday July 19, in order to prepare the Report for release in November.
