The Federal Government says it will put up more money to fix bridges across the country.

The Government announced this week that it will inject an additional $10 million each year for the next four years into the Bridges Renewal Program (BRP), increasing annual funding to $95 million.

Projects eligible for funding include replacing and widening bridges, strengthening existing structures, and upgrading floodways to bridges.

The Bridges Renewal Program announcement comes as many councils are assessing the damage caused by recent widespread and devastating flooding - for many, for a second time in just three months.
