The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities has launched the four-week consultation period for the Product Stewardship (Televisions and Computers) Regulations exposure draft.

 

The exposure draft of the Product Stewardship (Television and Computer) Regulations (the Regulations) was released on 12 September 2011 for a four-week public consultation period which will end on 10 October 2011. During this period, written submissions will be invited and public meetings held on the proposed Regulations and the Scheme.

 

The product stewardship program will underpin the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme.

 

The objectives of the consultation process are to:

  • Gather stakeholder feedback to ensure the proposed Regulations are appropriate;
  • Ensure the government has a comprehensive understanding of potential impacts and implications associated with the proposed Regulations, an
  • Improve awareness among stakeholders of the Scheme, especially for those who will have obligations under the proposed Regulations.
