Nominations are now open for a local government member on the South Australian Public Health Council for a three-year term.

The South Australian Public Health Council (SAPHC) - established by the South Australian Public Health Act 2011 - is designed to assist and advise the Chief Public Health Officer in relation to the protection and promotion of public health, the development and maintenance of a system of strategic planning for public health at the local, regional and State-wide levels, the development of health plans, strategies to ensure that a sufficiently trained and skilled workforce is in place, and many other functions.

The Local Government Association of South Australia is seeking nominations to fill a position for a term up to three years.

There are two LGA-nominated positions on the SAPHC, currently held by Ann Ferguson and Helen Donovan. Following the 2022 local government elections neither are eligible for reappointment.

In accordance with section 42 of the Legislation Interpretation Act 2021 the panel of nominees must include at least two men and two women.

Eligible applicants must be a currently serving council member or employee of a council or other local government entity (unless otherwise determined by the LGA Board of Directors).

Only nominations submitted following a resolution of council will be considered.
