The Launceston City Council has launched a new online survey aimed at helping develop a new vision for the future of greater Launceston.

The Council is seeking input from residents from Launceston and the surrounding areas, with the consultation process forming part of the Greater Launceston Plan, a major planning initiative being undertaken by the Council, State and Federal Governments.

The survey aims to discover answers to crucial planning questions, including how the area will look and feel in 20 years time, how people will live and the modes of transportation they will use and what jobs they will have.

Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said the Greater Launceston Plan would be a major focus for the Council in coming months.

"I encourage people to tell us their views, because this initiative will help guide Launceston and Northern Tasmania into the future," Mayor van Zetten said.

"This plan will include strategies for the development of public transport, infrastructure, retail, telecommunications, planning and tourism, amongst many others.
