LGA gets new leader
SA’s Local Government Association has a new president.
City of Adelaide Councillor Sue Clearihan has been appointed president following the resignation of City of Onkaparinga Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg.
Cr Clearihan will remain in the position until a new LGA Board and President are appointed in October.
She said restoring confidence in the local government sector is a central priority.
“Recent events in local government and the LGA have caused community concern, and I will be focused on working with our members to rebuild confidence in our sector, and the LGA itself,” Cr Clearihan said.
“The LGA is not just an advocacy organisation – it delivers a wide range of services to councils that create savings for ratepayers.”
“An independent review has verified the average value of LGA membership as around $2 million per council per year, or $130 million annually across the sector.”
