The City of Melbourne is inviting its residents to contribute to the conversation about the future of the city with the release of an outline of the council Plan.

The outline will inform the draft Council Plan 2013-17 which is scheduled for release in May, and will set out the key goals and priorities the Council intends to achieve during its next four year term.

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said it was vital that Council had a clear plan to meet the current and future needs of a growing and changing city and that the people of the city had an opportunity to engage in the process.

“What we love about Melbourne is not a result of luck or accident. It is very much the result of strategic planning and our partnership with our residents and ratepayers,” the Lord Mayor said.

“Melburnians have created one of the world’s great cities through their collective ideas, energy and enterprise.

“Over the past three months, Council has been developing Council Plan 2013-17 which will seek to ensure that we retain the aspects of our city we love while meeting new demands. We considered the challenges ahead, the outcomes we would like to see in the next four years and our priorities to go about achieving them.

“The results of our deliberations now are available for the public to see and comment on. I encourage you to join in the conversation about our city’s future.”
