New Local Government Chief for NT
The Northern territory Government has announced Allan McGill has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive of the Department of Housing and the Department of Local Government for a six-month tenure.
Territory Chief Minister Adam Gilles thanked outgoing Chief John Baskerville, who has now taken up the position f Managing Director of the Power and Water Corporation.
“Allan is a well-respected administrator with years of experience working with Territory local government and housing issues,” Mr Giles said.
“He spent 11 years as the Chief Executive Officer of the Darwin City Council and, more recently, was the chairman of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club for 4½ years and retired from this role after the Bombers took their first premiership.
“Allan’s appointment will provide a continuation of strong leadership and leave these departments well positioned to focus on delivery of the Government’s key priorities including local government reform, housing availability, growing our unique lifestyle and reducing the cost of living.
“Over the past few months the Government has been working to confirm permanent appointments in senior public service positions to provide greater certainty and stability for departments.”
