New President for LGASA
Mayor David O’Loughlin has been named as the next President of the Local Government Association of South Australia.
Elected unopposed, Mayor O’Loughlin was named the new President of the LGA by CEO Wendy Campana.
Mayor O’Loughlin will take up the role after Mayor Kym McHugh steps down at the end of his term of office in April.
Mayor McHugh said he welcomed Mayor O'Loughlin's election as President-elect after a call for nominations from metropolitan Councils. The LGA President is nominated each two years from country and metropolitan Councils, in turn.
"David has served the City of Prospect well since he was elected Mayor in 2006, at which time he was also elected to the LGA State Executive Committee," Mayor McHugh said.
"He has also served as an LGA Vice-President since 2009 and was Chairperson of the LGA Metropolitan Local Government Group between 2009 and 2011.
