Five objections have stalled plans for a mushroom plantation in rural Victoria, with councillors called upon to reject the fungus farm.

The Loddon Shire is weighing up the benefits of a local mushroom operation against the concerns of at least five nearby residents, who say they do not want to contend with the farm’s potential noise, dust and odour problems.

The problems were discussed at a meeting this week, with reports saying shire staff believed he permit application lacked detail about how some issues can be addressed.

The mushroom menagerie is set to be housed in a shed at the property on Sporting Flat Road, north of Dunolly.
