New funding is available for NSW councils to reduce the risk of natural disasters.

Grants of between $50,000 and $1.5 million are available to councils to help mitigate and manage the risks of future natural disasters from the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund.

The fund is jointly provided by NSW and Australian governments and is targeted at locally-led initiatives to keep communities safe.

The local and regional stream of funding, open to councils, is aimed at supporting and encouraging partnerships for the purpose of maximising the reach and efficacy of strategic, targeted, place-based risk reduction projects.

Applications are open until 30 June 2022.
