NT announces $1.3 million in grants to shires and councils
The Northern Territory Government has announced a $1.3 million package for grants to shire and municipal councils for the construction of infrastructure projects.
Local Government Minister, Malarndirri McCarthy today announced the second round of funding this financial year provided under the Special Purpose and Closing the Gap grants.
This is the second round of grants this year and follows the announcement of over $2.4 million in the first round of grant funding awarded in November 2011,” said Ms McCarthy.
Special Purpose Grants are available to offset part of the costs of innovative projects that benefit the community or increase the capacity of local councils to deliver services.
Closing the Gap Grants are available to shire councils to increase local community input into council decision making.
Total grants include:
- $772 711 – Special Purpose Grants
- $615 609 – Closing the Gap Grants
