The Queensland Government has announced $12.5 million in funding for the State’s regional councils.

Local Government Minister David Crisafulli announced the details of the program, saying that he had developed a good understanding of the needs of regional Queensland after visiting all 73 local government bodies.

“We can learn a lot from the attitude of the small councils that not just get things done, but find a way to do more with less,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“Regional councils are now experiencing a new way of partnering with the State where we let individual areas have a greater say on what’s important to them and end the attitude of forcing things down their throats.”
