Regional NSW councils will receive a total of $280 million in funding to fast-track repairs to flood-damaged roads.

The NSW Government this week revealed details of the $500 million in funding it announced in January.

More than $12 million will go to councils in the Central West, with Dubbo Regional Council receiving $5,074,270 to repair 2,783 kilometres including Saxa Road, a major north–south commercial thoroughfare.

The Lachlan Shire Council in central New South Wales is receiving $7 million from the funding, with Mayor John Medcalf saying the 4,500km of roads throughout the district have been a challenge to manage amid an excessively wet year.

Parkes Shire Council received $4 million while the Forbes Shire Council will get $3.4 million.

Narromine Shire Council is getting just over $3 million, with Mayor Craig Davies saying more needs to be done to fix the road network across rural and regional NSW.

The NRMA has estimated that almost $2 billion is needed to alleviate the devastation that has occurred on rural and regional roads over the past two years.
