Seventeen South Australian councils have been invited to apply for funding under Round Two of the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF).

The Federal Government has shortlisted 23 projects in South Australia from 17 difference councils which have now been formally invited to proceed to full application stage.

The Local Government Association's Acting CEO, Barry Parsons said the Federal Government had allocated $200 million for Stage Two of the $1 billion RDAF which will bring much needed funding into South Australia.

"Councils and their communities will benefit from the injection of funds from the Federal Government," Mr Parsons said.

"Local Government in SA invests around $600 million in capital funding and more than $1.6 million in operating expenses each year to bring services and infrastructure to their communities. The RDAF funding certainly is a welcome addition to Councils' funding pool."
