Truss firm on Princes plan, locals wait for action
The Federal Government says it is committed to widening one of Australia’s busiest highways.
Acting Prime Minister Warren Truss says the Government’s remains as committed to doubling the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale as it was last time it was in office.
Mr Truss has even visited the site of early works towards that goal, at a patch of highway near Traralgon.
“This is a major highway linking the eastern parts of Victoria, the productive areas of Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley into Melbourne and therefore it is an important part of the national link,” Mr Truss said yesterday.
“That's a commitment we made when we were last in government, that that would be a goal and that that would be one of our objectives and we are committed to achieving that as a part of our National Highway upgrading program.”
