The consultation process is open for the revised Victorian Local Government Draft Best Practice Procurement Guidelines.

The revised guidelines are designed to assist Victorian councils and regional library corporations better understand their obligations under the Local Government Act 1989. They were first released by Local Government Victoria (LGV) in 2008.


Last year, the department undertook a consultation process to establish priorities for revising the guidelines as well as reflect changes that have occurred since the first version was released. The revised guidelines have been informed by recommendations contained in reports by Victoria’s Auditor-General and Ombudsman.


It is anticipated the final version of the guidelines will be made available to the local government sector in late 2012.


The closing date for submissions is 15 October 2012.
