The Western Australian State Government has announced the appointment of 27 specialists to staff 15 development assessment panels across the state.

The panels will be responsible for determining local and regional planning schemes to replace the current decision making bodies.

“A development assessment panel is an independent decision-making body, comprised of independent technical experts and elected local government representatives,” Planning Minister John Day.

The specialists have be selected from town planning (presiding and deputy presiding members); architecture; urban design; engineering; landscape design; environment; law; property development and management areas.

In addition, applicants will have the option for panel determination of applications between $10million and $15million in the City of Perth, and $3million to $7million across the rest of the State.
