WA announces planning legislation changes
The Western Australian State Government has announced planning legislation changes that will oblige all WA local governments to develop a Strategic Community Plan and corporate Business Plan.
The Strategic Community Plan is designed to connect community aspirations with local government long-term strategies.
The Corporate Business Plan will link the strategic plan to council operations, financial planning, asset management and workforce planning.
The legislation, due to take effect by June 30, 2013, will make regulatory changes to the Local Government Act 1995.
The framework was introduced into WA as part of the State Government’s Local Government Reform Program.
