WALGA welcomes new CEO
The WA Local Government Association has a new CEO.
Nick Sloan - a senior executive from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries - has been appointed as WALGA’s new CEO.
WALGA President Cr Lynne Craigie announced Nick Sloan has been appointed to the role and will commence in March.
“Mr Sloan has extensive experience working in senior positions in the State government, a strong background in public policy, and wide-ranging experience working with executive government in a number of portfolios in both Chief of Staff and Principal Policy Advisor roles,” Cr Craigie said.
“He is well-versed and respected in the Local Government sector and has broad experience working in both regional and metropolitan WA, with a strong background in strategic thinking and stakeholder management.”
Cr Craigie said as CEO, Mr Sloan would lead the strategic direction of WALGA in continuing to represent its Member Councils and head the Association’s Strategic Executive Team.
“I’m pleased Nick has accepted the role and I am confident the sector will benefit from his extensive networks and experience,” she said.
“We are looking forward to introducing him to our Member Councils following his commencement.”
Mr Sloan was previously employed as the Executive Director, Planning and Service Delivery for the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. He was also the Deputy Chairperson of the Local Government Grants Commission.
