Western NSW goes for equal split
A $227,000 Regional Development Australia grant will be spread evenly between all towns in the shire to which it was awarded.
The Central Darling Shire has met to discuss plans for the funding payout awarded earlier this month. Mayor Ray Longfellow said the money would be distributed in an egalitarian fashion between the small towns of White Cliffs, Menindee, Wilcannia, Ivanhoe, Sunset Strip and Tilpa. He says the towns are essentially free to do what they will with the money, but their intentions must be run past the Council.
"We are leaving them to the councillors from each of these wards to make a recommendation to the acting general manager by no later than Friday to get that more or less on the road, so the submission can go in on Monday," said Cr Longfellow.
The Central Darling Shire is composited of three wards, each set to receive around $76,000 for a community project of their choosing.
