As the Building Compliance Coordinator, you will lead, develop, and mentor a team of dedicated staff committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, and effective services to our customers while minimizing the adverse impacts of building activities on the community. You will coordinate the development and implementation of the Council's Building Compliance initiatives in accordance with council and legislative requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and reviewing effective and efficient service coordination, staff management, policy development, financial planning, and monitoring metrics.
Reviewing and updating the Council's Building Compliance legislation and related policies to ensure the Building Compliance Unit meets its legislative, regulatory, governance, and ethical obligations.
Supervising the timely review of infringement appeals and effectively managing the prosecution of Building Compliance matters.
This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $105,785 - $117,494 per annum + 11 % superannuation.

You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable 311 Glenferrie Road office on the corner of High Street and Glenferrie Road in Malvern where boutique stores, cafes and health clubs are in abundance. From the office you can easily walk to Malvern Gardens, High Street Armadale or Glenferrie Road. Malvern and Armadale Train Station are a short walk away and tram stops are out the front of the building.

Desired Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in the coordination of a local government regulatory compliance unit or similar regulatory function
Strong customer service ethic and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
Sound analytical, investigative problem-solving skills and knowledge of evidential requirements and prosecution processes
Proven ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with conflict, complaints, and enquiries from a range of stakeholders
Proven capacity to provide leadership in a team environment and maintain individual morale and a positive team culture
Experience with workload coordination including recruitment of casual and agency staff
Ability to develop relevant policies and interpret and apply Local Laws and other relevant legislation
Demonstrated use of initiative in sound decision-making in conjunction with management and leadership team
Proficiency in the use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and other Council databases and systems
Tertiary qualifications in areas of compliance and investigations and/or tertiary qualifications in business management and/or extensive experience in a relevant field
