Job Description

As Paralegal you will be the first point-of-contact, providing high-level administrative and project support to the Legal team in accordance with organisational, government and legislative obligations. You will be required to support the Legal team on all legal administrative matters including tasks such as preparing and managing briefs to externals and external communications and supporting the maintenance of the Legal Intranet page, keeping information up to date with approved changes.

You are also required to:

  • Coordinate the flow of information from internal and external stakeholders for the Legal team and triage of queries from Council to team members accordingly
  • Raise requisitions and process tax invoices, including allocating costs from other Business Units
  • Provide support to staff on Council Policy and related procedures, and Legal administrative matters
  • Identify, maintain and implement improvement opportunities for the operation of the team
  • Be responsible for administrative tasks related to pending Legal Services Panel (currently out to public tender) and Legal project delivery and coordination

This is a temporary part time position for 12 months with an annual salary range of $92,922 - $100,635 (pro-rata) per annum + 11.5 % superannuation. 

This is a hybrid position where one of the three days could be worked remotely if desired. There is also flexibility around exact days and hours worked upon negotiations.

When onsite you are based within our bright, modern and sustainable 311 Glenferrie Road office on the corner of High Street and Glenferrie Road in Malvern where boutique stores, cafes and health clubs are in abundance. From the office you can easily walk to Malvern Gardens, High Street Armadale or Glenferrie Road. Malvern and Armadale Train Station are a short walk away and tram stops are out the front of the building.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a legal, regulatory or governance environment (preferable) working with legislative Acts and Regulations, and understanding of underlying principles
  • Strong legal administrative skills and attention to detail and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and efficient time management skills
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders and a willingness to work collaboratively across a wide range of projects.
  • Ability to administratively manage Legal Services, including implementation of and ongoing maintenance of the pending Legal Services Panel 
  • Experience in a similar Legal administrative and/or paralegal role; and/or relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant to law and business administration or other relevant discipline
