The Shire of Wiluna is located in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, about 950 kilometres northeast of Perth, and is situated right on the edge of the desert at the gateway to the Canning Stock Route and Gunbarrel Highway. Historically a gold mining town, Wiluna offers a stunning landscape with various tourist hotspots and is continuing to grow with facilities such as a gymnasium and swimming pool, aerodrome, Skate Park, Tjukurba Art Gallery and the Canning-Gunbarrel Discovery Centre.  Our tourist caravan and camping park is currently under construction.

The Shire of Wiluna is currently seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead their forward-thinking team and Chandler Macleod is delighted to invite applications for this highly visible role.
Candidates who require the flexibility of performing duties partially remotely (dependent on priorities and projects and subject to negotiation) are encouraged to apply.

The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) provides strategic leadership to the Shire of Wiluna and to the Council and is responsible for leading and managing the organisation to achieve the Council’s vision and objectives and to provide high quality services for the community.

The CEO acts as the primary link between Councillors and the Shire’s staff and is responsible for providing support and professional advice to Councillors, including the development of policy.

The successful candidate should have a sound background in Local Government, have experience in large scale projects and display strong leadership skills to continue to lead the Shire into the future to achieve the Council’s long-term plans. Understanding and working experience within a remote cross-cultural community would be highly advantageous.

Employment is offered under a performance-based contract of 3 - 5 years. An attractive total reward package to be set in accordance with the Salary and Allowances Tribunal (SAT) Band 4 of between $156,780 - $240,396 per annum (incl salary, super, utilities) will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. In addition, the Council may also pay the SAT regional/isolation allowance $50,000 per annum.

The Council will provide rent free, locally situated executive housing with paid utilities, private use of an executive 4WD and Professional Development & Training allowance with paid study days above your annual leave entitlements of 5 weeks.
