What is the Town Water Risk Reduction Program (TWRRP)?
WaterNSW has been engaged by the Department of Planning and Environment – Water (now DCCEEW) to collaborate with regional councils and LWUs to deliver key elements of the TWRRP. Through this program, WaterNSW will share our knowledge and experience in dam safety management systems and in source water quality management, working in partnership with councils.
The Role:
As a Drinking Water Quality Technical Adviser, you will be supporting the team in delivering the following activities as part of the source water quality workstream:
- Catchment hazard assessment and risk management reports
- Raw water characterisations
- Risk based source water monitoring programs
- Raw water management supporting documentation
- Training sessions, workshops and associated documentation for knowledge transfer to LWUs
As part of our Operating Strategy team supporting the delivery of the TWRRP, you will also be involved in, but not limited to the following:
- Travel across regional NSW to meet with LWUs and undertake site visits
- Provide technical input and support the delivery of the source water quality program of works
- Review relevant information for the identification of hazards, including water quality data, land use mapping, customer records and other relevant sources
- Undertake stakeholder engagement including with water utilities, regulators, other government agencies, to obtain relevant information to assess, communicate and support the project deliverables
- Support the identification and implementation of improvements and improvement opportunities for the management of water quality risks for LWUs
- Prepare technical reports, presentations and supporting documentation
- Assist in the delivery of training and coordination of knowledge transfer to relevant stakeholders
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in science or a related discipline
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Specialised knowledge in one or more of the nominated fields:
- Drinking water quality management principles
- Aquatic ecosystems
- Catchment and riverine hydrology or hydrogeology
- Knowledge of relevant water quality guidelines including ADWG, ANZECC and Recreation guidelines
- Demonstrated experience in water quality and/or catchment management, with an emphasis on drinking water
- Experience in analysing and reporting on complex data sets to inform decision making
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement
