Officer Reading, Learning and Community

 

Permanent Part-time (48 hrs per 4 week roster)
Band 3 ($35.7627-$39.0172 p.h) + Super
Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub & Mobile Library

YPRL is currently seeking a permanent part time Officer RLC to deliver story time sessions to young patrons while actively contributing to the positive team environment and to the Library’s role as a place for reading, learning and meeting.  The position will also assist on the Mobile Library.

Our Officers provide a high standard of service to Yarra Plenty Regional Library customers and to the wider community.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate a courteous and effective communication style, with the ability to interact with both children and their parents.  The successful incumbents will provide a high level of customer focus and will actively encourage enthusiasm for reading in children.  If you have knowledge and/or experience in assisting with or delivering programs or activities, we want to hear from you.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for these positions should possess strong customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with all library users and members of the community. They should actively encourage a love for reading through reader advisory and prioritise customer satisfaction.  Adaptability, flexibility, and a positive team-oriented approach are essential qualities we are looking for in the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver exceptional customer service to library patrons and the wider community and willingness to learn and deliver storytimes.
  2. Communicate effectively with both children and their parents.
  3. Maintain a strong customer focus by addressing customer needs, assisting with promotional activities and displays, offering basic reference information, and participating in community engagement services to increase library membership and usage.
  4. Carry out various library operations to support patrons in a self-serve environment, including circulation and collection maintenance tasks as assigned.
  5. Contribute actively to a positive team environment by supporting day-to-day branch operations, participating in planning and staff meetings, attending training sessions, and advocating for branch and regional development.
  6. Support the library's role as a space for reading, learning, and community gatherings.

Reporting:

This position will report to the Branch Manager.

Roster Details:

Tuesdays - 8.45am - 1.45pm
Wednesdays - 5.15pm - 9.15pm
Saturdays - 10.00am - 1.00pm
