Arts Atlas
Arts Atlas
It’s time for local artists to put themselves on the map… literally!
Artists from across the south west will now have an online platform to connect, create and communicate through a new website called South West Arts Atlas.
This free resource is based on the Central Highlands Arts Atlas developed by Ballarat City Council as part of a regional networking project.
It provides a website for artists, arts organisations and local communities to upload profiles, promote venues, list upcoming events as well as connecting users to a monthly arts newsletter.
Warrnambool City Council Manager Recreation and Culture John Finnerty said in the lead-up to the creation of the Arts Atlas, community feedback to the Great South Coast councils was that there was a need for better communication “both artist-to-artist and artist-to-community”.
“This feedback was consistent with Warrnambool's community consultation around cultural development planning,” Mr Finnerty said.
“This was further reinforced by the Creative Warrnambool World Cafe in July where the participants suggested that a regional arts calendar was a high priority.”
The South West Arts Atlas is a partnership project supported by the Shires of Corangamite, Glenelg, Moyne, Southern Grampians, Colac-Otway and the City of Warrnambool.
The Atlas can be accessed at www.artsatlasSW.com.au.
