Bendigo on display in Federation Square

Bendigo Tourism has set up an information stand in the Melbourne Visitor Centre located in Federation Square to showcase Bendigo’s arts and cultural heritage to hundreds of state, interstate and international visitors during October.

City of Greater Bendigo Tourism Manager Kathryn Mackenzie said the information stand was set up on October 5 and will continue until October 31 in Federation Square.

“The Melbourne Visitor Centre attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every day and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Bendigo as a must see visitor destination for arts, culture, heritage and food and wine.

“We are taking this opportunity to heavily promote both the Undressed: 350 years of Underwear in Fashion and the Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece exhibitions currently on show at Bendigo Art Gallery which are coming into their final weeks.

“It’s important to market Bendigo direct into Melbourne so that we can continue to attract visitors and keep the Bendigo brand in the public eye.

“Spring is the perfect time to hold a display of this type at the Melbourne Visitor Centre as the city is buzzing with activity and events which we are keen to capitalise on by attracting some of the people traffic to Bendigo,” said Ms Mackenzie.

She said the information stand is being staffed largely by volunteers with some assistance from the City’s Tourism Staff.

“Our Bendigo Visitor Centre Volunteers are fantastic ambassadors and are on hand at the stand to assist with all enquiries.  They do a wonderful job,” said Ms Mackenzie.
