Breaking the myths on recycling
Breaking the myths on recycling
As landfill space decreases and costs increase, it’s important to improve our recycling habits. To create awareness and also celebrate Local Government Week (3-9 August), Hawkesbury Library Service will host a free recycling workshop on Wednesday, 5 August at 6pm.
Participants will learn how to help the environment, starting with the basics of recycling, learning about the different types of plastics found in many household items and what do to with certain materials. A demonstration of the ‘closed loop approach’ to recycling will be shown by Council’s Waste Education Officer.
The workshop will run for one hour and all attendees will receive a free recycling collection box to help them get started on their new recycling habits.
Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford encourages the community to attend and brush up on their recycling knowledge.
“Reuse and recycling are the easiest sustainable actions we can take. This workshop will provide you with a good understanding of the dos and don’ts of recycling,” Councillor Ford said.
“I am sure all those who attend will walk away with a new perspective and will be ready to make changes to the way they recycle.”
The workshop will be held in the Stan Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street Windsor.
Bookings are essential as light refreshments will be provided. Call (02) 4560 4460 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your name(s), contact number and the name of the event you wish to attend.
