Calling all young Hawkesbury residents!
Members of the Hawkesbury Youth Summit Planning Group have been working hard organising this year’s Youth Summit. Young people aged 12 to 24, who are passionate about sharing their opinions and dreams for the area are invited to attend the 2015 Hawkesbury Youth Summit. The Summit will be held on Tuesday, 31 March 2015 from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the Deerubbin Centre.
The planning group has been meeting with Council staff once a month since September to help organise the Youth Summit. The program for the Youth Summit will be released shortly on Council’s website and aims to help Council understand the desires of young people in the Hawkesbury.
The Youth Summit also provides young people the opportunity to gain valuable new skills which they can use in their schooling and everyday life.
Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford is pleased that the Summit is being held this year.
“I encourage young people who have ideas for the area and who would like to be involved in shaping the future of the Hawkesbury to attend the Summit. Now is the time to come forward and be heard, Council wants to hear from you.”
“The Inaugural Hawkesbury Youth Summit was held in 2009 with a second Summit held in 2012. The Summits provide a great avenue to seek and explore the concerns and views of the youth of our area for Council, as well as giving us the opportunity to identify ways in which we can actively involve young people in our decision making process,” he added.
