Casey Cardinia region to attract new business
Mayors of the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council are looking forward to a new era of business investment and local employment opportunities with the launch of the Casey Cardinia Region Investment Attraction website and prospectus.
The new website and prospectus are a result of the partnership project between the two councils which is underpinned by a joint, ongoing focus to encourage economic development, and provide support to businesses, in the Casey Cardinia region.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon said ‘the key focus of the partnership is to increase the number of jobs in the area, so that fewer residents will need to leave the region for work’.
‘Across the two municipalities, we have a total resident workforce of more than 156,000, however almost 70 per cent have to leave the region for work each day.
‘This means more time spent in the car battling traffic, and less time at home and with family or friends. It also reduces the benefits to our local economy, if these people are spending the majority of their time and money outside the region.
‘The purpose of the investment attraction partnership is to encourage businesses and investors to recognise opportunities in Casey and Cardinia, and bring local people back to the region to do business’.
Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Owen said ‘the framework will help promote the features of our great region’.
‘This includes a growing, skilled workforce, available and cost efficient land available at their fingertips, right now.
‘The benefits of increased business and investment in the region will provide a much needed boost to the local economy and employment’.
Through the partnership, both councils will work together to encourage a diverse range of businesses to move into the region.
The strength of this partnership will assist in lobbying the Federal and State Governments for support in attracting new jobs to the region, and boost the growth of and support to existing businesses.
Both councils signed up to the partnership in early April which was launched on 28 May 2013 and will continue for a minimum of three years.
