Cheryl Kernot to help empower Clarence women

Former Australian Democrats leader, Cheryl Kernot, will join a host of other recognised speakers and therapists in Grafton later this month for a two-day festival aimed at empowering women.

The Strong Message Festival will be held at the Grafton Community and Function Centre, 59 Duke St Grafton, with the aim of bringing women together to promote strength in unity and give them the power and inspiration to achieve whatever they want in life.

Clarence Valley Council social and cultural services manager, Judy Banko, said the women’s-only festival would run on April 29 and 30 and would have a number of workshops including Afro Cuban dance, Mandala making, Fermentation, Bollywood dancing, mask making, Wu Tao, drumming, laughter yoga, belly dancing, spirit doll making workshops, hula hoop workshop and more.

Keynote speakers will touch on being social entrepreneurs and empowering women. They include Ms Kernot, Sammy Lovejoy, Dr Kati Jacobs and Margi Williams.

Dr Banko said there would also be a cabaret dinner on Thursday evening with entertainment for all women in the Clarence Valley.

“Grab your friends and your ticket, for a night of live music, dancing, comedy routines, great food and great company,” she said.
