Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the City of Perth is committed to the development of a successful and liveable capital city, for now and generations to come.

“The City of Perth is currently in a period of extraordinary growth and development, and over the next few years, several key projects will significantly alter the shape of the City.

“Our Strategic Community Plan is important because it will ensure the City is best placed to achieve its future goals,” Ms Scaffidi said.

“The City is very focussed on improvement and understands the changes are complex but we also assure stakeholders are always well considered throughout our plans.”

“We will continue to improve communication with stakeholders, visitors and citizens to ensure all are fully informed of issues, temporary inconveniences and the reasons behind our changes, “ Ms Scaffidi said.

“This is and continues to be a priority of the City, and we take a strong lead in engaging the community.”

Five key themes were discussed and identified as part of the plan; Getting Around Perth, Perth as a Capital City, Living in Perth, Perth at Night and Healthy and Active in Perth.

The plan’s key areas of focus include:

  • Proactive planning for a world class integrated transport system.
  • Promoting housing diversity so that a diverse range of people choose to live in the city.
  • Improving safety and security and creating a strong and active night-time economy.

The Vision 2029+ Strategic Community Plan will guide the Councils activities and is supported by a Four Year Corporate Business Plan which facilitates the implementation of the plan. Vision 2029+ will be subject to ongoing review, including consultation with the community.
