Council grants aid SES

The City of Greater Bendigo will match State Government contributions to provide a total of $70,604 for State Emergency Service units at Bendigo, Heathcote and Marong.

“The City’s contribution will help ease the everyday running costs of these units and will assist the SES in maintaining their facilities and equipment,” City CEO Craig Niemann said.

The Marong SES Unit will receive $12,853, Heathcote $6,634 and Bendigo $15,815 with each receiving the same amount from the State Government.

Mr Niemann said the City has provided the SES with matching grants since 1989.

SES volunteers from across our region assist with flood damage recovery, fallen power lines, police searches, bushfire responses and road accidents 24 hours a day seven days a week.

“Our SES volunteers make an outstanding contribution by sacrificing their time to help others and the City is very pleased to be able to assist them in the important work that they do,” Mr Niemann said.
