Cycle Hub amenities now open

 

The progress of the Barossa Cycle Hub at Tanunda continues to move forward, with the first stage, the new toilet amenities, now open to the public.  

Featuring male and female toilets, change rooms and coin operated showers; the multi-purpose facility will become a one stop shop for visitors and locals.

Due to the opening of the new amenities, the public toilets, located in the CWA building are now closed and will be demolished in early/mid September, as part of the overall plan for the precinct.  

Barossa Deputy Mayor Bob Sloane believes the new facilities will become a real asset for the region and encourages Barossa locals to embrace the cycling culture and utilise the new facilities.

“It is great to see this first part of the project open and accessible to everyone,” Mr Sloane said.

“The Cycle Hub itself will become a focal point in the Tanunda township. Its central location will provide tourists and members of the public with greater access to public amenities as well as retail shops, restaurants, cafes and tourism operators.
“We envisage this area will become a centralised meeting point where cyclists can meet, take advantage of the toilet and shower facilities, before heading out to sample some of the Barossa’s finest food and wine and take in the local sites.

“These new contemporary facilities offer not just tourists, but locals, with convenient access to new amenities, right in the heart of Tanunda.”

The Barossa Cycle Hub project is tracking well with the official opening of the new facility expected to coincide with the 2015 Santos Tour Down Under stage start in January.

This project is co-funded by the Australian Government through the Tourism Industry Regional Development Fund Grants Programme. The programme was also funded by the Barossa Council.
