Draft Municipal Plan 2014-15
The City of Darwin released the draft 2014/2015 Municipal Plan.
Lord Mayor Katrina Fong Lim said the budget that was responsive to the current financial climate without losing sight of the City’s strategic goals.
“I believe we’ve struck the right balance,” the Lord Mayor said.
“With this Budget we will continue progress on our Evolving Darwin: Towards 2020 strategic plan and Darwin City Centre Master Plan without neglecting the $1.2 billion in assets we need to maintain or the high level of service we provide”
“I’m especially proud that we’ve managed to contain rates growth,” the Lord Mayor added.
“Our Long Term Financial Plan forecasts an annual 4.5% increase, by finding efficiencies within Council we’ve been able to reduce that to 4%.”
“For the average residential property, that works out to about $1.06 a week”
The Draft 2014/2015 Municipal Plan is now available for public consultation for 21 days.
“We’re very keen to hear what people think of the plan. I encourage anyone with an interest to provide written feedback to the Council,” the Lord Mayor said.
