Dubbo City Council to reapply for round three National Stronger Region Funding

Dubbo City Council will reconsider options for capital works projects to apply for new funding under Round Three of the Federal Government’s National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) after being unsuccessful in Round Two.

Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said Council had applied for funding for Stage 2 of the upgrade to the Dubbo City Holiday Park and re-construction of the South Dubbo Weir.

“The nature of competitive grant funding means that not every project proposed is going to be successful,” Councillor Dickerson said. “While it is disappointing it is important that priorities are set and projects continue to be delivered.”

“The construction of the rock ramp and fishway at the South Dubbo Weir is a priority project for Council. As such Council will now consider tenders at the December meeting and subject to Council accepting a tender the project will still proceed,” Councillor Dickerson said.

Dubbo City Council was successful in securing $3.29M in Round One of the NSRF for the upgrade of the cattle sale facilities at the Dubbo Regional Livestock Markets.

Councillor Dickerson said Council will now consider its priorities and projects to be put forward for potential funding in Round Three.

“The NSRF is specifically for capital projects to construct new infrastructure or upgrade or extend existing infrastructure and needs to be matched by Council,” Councillor Dickerson said.

“Council will continue to investigate projects that contribute to economic growth in the region that may be put forward for consideration in Round Three.”
