Libraries are economic enablers
Libraries are economic enablers
Public libraries can be agencies for economic wellbeing in their communities.
According to regional librarian, Kathryn Breward, Clarence Valley Libraries help jobseekers find opportunities and prepare themselves for interview.
“We offer courses and digital skills training which enable people to seek work,” she said. “Our online computer training database for example offers all current Microsoft Office courses, internet, email etc for people to work through at their own pace.
“Libraries can offer support for the development of small businesses, provide access to government agencies, statistics and network groups to support business endeavours. At the same time, libraries help people make the most of the income they have. Libraries provide essential support for people applying for Centrelink benefits in the digital future.”
