Library receives awards for its marketing

Branding of Clarence Valley Libraries as “Your library – your place” has helped the Clarence Valley Council pick up an award for excellence in marketing at the NSW Public Libraries Conference in Mudgee.

The council won the services category and was given an honorable mention in the social media category in the awards.

Mayor, Richie Williamson, said the service category win was for the new branding of Clarence Valley Libraries and the increased usage and awareness of services through the development of branded collateral.

“The ‘Your library – your place’ tagline was created to promote ownership and strengthen the welcoming nature of our brand personality,” he said.

“The design captures the fun, vibrancy and strength of our library brand and the use of colour is inclusive and welcoming.”

The social media category was for the Facebook page promotion of Clarence Regional Library, what it is and what it does - with an emphasis on fun and quirky.

“Our aim is to reach 2000 likes on the library’s Facebook page by June 2015,” Cr Williamson said.

“So, if you love your library and are a Facebook user, nod your head in our direction and like us on Facebook, join the library family on Facebook in the Clarence Valley today.”

Regional librarian, Kathryn Breward, said library staff had worked hard to develop and take on board the marketing skills and principles they gained over the course of the past year.

“The development, implementation and production of collateral has been a challenging, exciting and worthwhile experience for all involved,” she said.

“Many thanks also to the community members who took part in the focus groups, survey and YouTube clip production that was a part of this process. Your input was wonderful, breathtaking and inspiring for the staff. Congratulations all.”
