Marlow Lagoon Works Update
Marlow Lagoon Works Update
As our city's largest open space, Council dedicates a considerable amount of resources towards the maintenance and upkeep on the park.
Recently, extensive fencing work has taken place with the hinged fence at the water line replaced by a fixed fence to better retain dogs within the dog park area; a stolen fence rail was restored; and the dog park gates which were vandalised are in the process of being manufactured. At this stage, Council anticipates the new gates will be installed in the coming week.
Council and the NT Government have worked collaboratively over the last two weeks to ensure the out fall drain from the lagoon is clear. This work will ensure that the lake level is better controlled during the wet season and the level of inundation on the walking paths is minimised.
The work undertaken a couple of months back for erosion protection is now complete with the affected soil scheduled to be seeded during this wet season. The natural rainfall will assist with restoring this area into a lush, green space again.
Sadly, Marlow Lagoon can at times be subjected to theft and vandalism. Council is calling on anyone in the community who witnesses crime taking place to report it immediately to the NT Police.
