New 2015 Visitor Guide

Produced by the City of Greater Bendigo in partnership with Bendigo Tourism, the guide is the city’s major tourism marketing publication designed to showcase the range of visitor experiences and major events on offer in the Bendigo and Heathcote region.

City of Greater Bendigo Executive Manager Tourism Kathryn Mackenzie said the guide is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer.

“Tourism boosted the Bendigo/Loddon region’s local economy by $509 million in the 2013/14 year and the guide brands our region’s strengths of arts, culture, heritage, history, cycling, food, wine, retail, accommodation, outdoor attractions, markets and events.

“The 2015 guide is the 19th to be produced and features a new eight page regional section to encourage visitors to stay longer by exploring the surrounding regions, a stronger focus on cycling tourism and  four new suggested itineraries based on the themes of history and heritage, family fun, culture and girls getaway.

“It’s also full of fantastic photography, links to our websites, social media, mobile apps and videos to provide an opportunity to see real time information and book the experiences on offer and  a range of important local information and maps to help visitors navigate their way around our region. It also,” said Ms Mackenzie.

“Visitors Guides are an important marketing tool and each year we try to make improvements that makes ours even more relevant. In fact we have been told by the company that distributes our guide that it is one of the most sought after guides in Victoria,” Ms Mackenzie said.

She said 2015 is an exciting year for tourism with the opening of the new Ulumbarra Theatre, the upgraded Bendigo Art Gallery attracting quality exhibitions, the extended O’Keefe Rail Trail, the introduction of a new foodie walk, themed trams, Heritage Month and Vahland celebrations and a strong calendar of events.
