New Focus for 2015 Bendigo Inventor Awards

Applications for the 2015 Bendigo Inventor Awards (BIA) have opened with a bright new focus on emergency services and safety.

Chair of the Bendigo Inventor Awards Committee Paul Chapman said this year’s awards will feature innovator of the year and inventor of the year categories as well as a major prize for ideas or inventions that directly contribute to the challenges the emergency services sector face in our region.

“This year we are shifting the focus of the awards with the backing of our local emergency services,” Mr Chapman said.

“Over the last five years the BIA has developed a reputation for discovering and supporting inventors and innovators across a range of disciplines and activities.

“However as a point of difference for the future, the BIA has decided to direct its focus towards the emergency services on which we all rely, and to engage with corporations and organisations that wish to be aligned with successful inventions and innovations.

“The program promotes practical improvements in the emergency management/services sector, and consequently aids domestic sector leadership initiatives for safer communities nationally and globally.

“We warmly welcome everyone involved in emergency services and disaster management to join us on our journey and I encourage anyone with a great idea to enter this year’s Bendigo Inventor Awards,” said Mr Chapman.

The Bendigo Inventor awards are open to anyone from anywhere who has an innovative idea or invention.  Applications close on August 26 and the winners are announced at an awards presentation at the Capital on November 5.
