New shelter for McKell Park
New shelter for McKell Park
The latest step in Hornsby Shire Council’s redevelopment of McKell Park at Brooklyn has been completed, with the erection of a new picnic shelter.
The shelter is eight metres by four metres and includes two tables that envision larger groups having picnics there.
The cost of the new shelter was $20,000.
Other works at McKell Park have included new footpaths, new play equipment and the replacement of damaged interpretive signs.
In recent years McKell Park has received more than $140,000 from the State Government’s Metropolitan Greenspace Grant Program, funding that has been matched by Council.
DID YOU KNOW? The land for McKell Park was originally owned by the railways and was handed over to Hornsby Shire Council in 1942. It is named after William McKell, who was Premier of New South Wales at the time.
