Nominate your Young Person of the Month
Whitehorse City Council is calling for nominations for its Young Person of the Month awards.
Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Andrew Munroe said young people who contribute in a positive way to the Whitehorse community have the chance to win a prestigious Young Person of the Month Award.
“These awards are given throughout the year to young people who have demonstrated excellence in sport, recreation, arts, culture, music, academic pursuits and contributed to the community through charity work, inspiring others or community participation,” Cr Munroe said.
Each Young Person of the Month Award recipient is then considered for Council’s annual Young Citizen of the Year Award as part of Whitehorse’s Australia Day celebrations.
“The awards are a great way of acknowledging our municipality’s outstanding young people and to give them some well-deserved recognition,” Cr Munroe said.
Schools, universities, community groups and individuals are encouraged to nominate a young person for the monthly award. Nominees must be younger than 27 years on 26 January 2016.
Winners of the award receive a JB Hi-Fi gift voucher and are featured each month in an article published in the Whitehorse News.
