Outdoor Television Screen for Goyder Square

Set to be incorporated into stage one of the Goyder Square redevelopment, Council has agreed to the purchase and installation of a large TV, with an open tender process to be conducted to secure an appropriate screen.

It is envisaged the television will measure approximately 3m x 5m in size, with the current library building a possible site to mount the screen due to its location and current power supply.

City of Palmerston Deputy Mayor Andrew Byrne said the procurement of a large screen compliments the City's Master Plan.

'The installation of a screen in Goyder Square supports Council's City Centre Master Plan, which is focused on activating our existing public places and supporting place-making opportunities.

"Once construction on stage one of  Goyder Square is finished, it will be reinvigorated community space where residents can catch up, enjoy the popular Palmerston Markets, and now they'll also be able to watch major sporting events and special community programs," said Deputy Mayor Byrne.

The cost for the screen will be met by savings made in the current budget and returned to Council's Investment Reserves.

The first stage of the Goyder Square Redevelopment is set for completion in April, with construction including the removal of the remains of Goyder Hill and improved infrastructure for the Palmerston Markets.
