Perth going up in the world

Perth’s stellar rankings in the latest fDi Global Cities of the Future 2014/15 survey highlight the growing maturity of our city and its exciting future, says Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi.

“To be ranked fifth, worldwide, in the category of Human Capital and Lifestyle underlines the quality and competence of our workforce and the city’s desirability as a place to live,” Ms Scaffidi said.

“And to be placed 16th overall in the top 25 cities in the world for FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) Strategy, reinforces our credentials as a dynamic city of international significance.”

fDi Magazine, which conducted the survey, is part of the Financial Times publishing group.

“Perth people can be very proud of what they have achieved in what is a truly defining era for their capital city,” the Lord Mayor said.

“We’ve been ‘on the map’ for quite a while, but now we really stand out boldly.

“Part of the reason is that the City of Perth has been an active player on the world stage, through its membership of groups such as the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP), other international industry forums, through our strongly interactive Sister City relationships and by facilitating international business co-operation and investment.

“The Council’s Strategic Community Plan includes seeing the City of Perth ‘recognised internationally as a city on the move and for its liveability, talented people, centres of excellence and business opportunities’. I’m very pleased to see that we are right on track to achieve that.”
