Recycled art on display at Re-magine
Waste materials that were destined for landfill have been creatively transformed by artists into amazing works on display at Hornsby Shire Council’s Re-magine art exhibition.
Re-magine showcases artworks that demonstrate the concept of resource recovery, taking waste products and transforming them into art.
It will be open for the public to view from Wednesday 10 June to Sunday 28 June, across three different locations in Hornsby Shire.
Entries have been received from both local talent and artists from as far away as Victoria and Canberra.
“Recycling is an important practice that we encourage for all Hornsby Shire residents, and the artworks on display at Re-magine demonstrate how waste products can be given new life in imaginative and creative ways,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.
The main exhibition will be held at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, while a young creative component is showing at Hornsby Library.
An exciting new feature of this year’s event is the addition of a large sculpture display in beautiful Hornsby Park – the first outdoor sculpture exhibition ever held in Hornsby Shire.
The works on display were selected from a large number of submissions and will be judged by a panel, with prizes to be awarded to the winners of each category at a presentation on Friday 12 June.
Re-magine is a reworking of the Returned to Glory recycled art competition, which has run since 2009, and is presented by Hornsby Shire Council in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society and sponsored by Cleanaway.
